Nate’s Notes: The Hard Truth That Leads to Life Change
This week I contemplate the questions below:
“What am I pretending not to see in myself?
What truth am I avoiding because comfort feels easier than growth?”
This was convicting for me. I would like to think I’m always making great decisions and doing the right things. But where in my life am I trying to find a shortcut, taking the easy road or making an excuse?
Sometimes, the biggest obstacle to your next life change isn’t your circumstances, your resources, or your schedule. It’s your own avoidance of the truth.
I had to admit this week that I’d gotten lazy in a few areas. That I had gotten in the way of my own progress. It's self-sabotage at it's best, and all in the name of self preservation. I was clearly “going through the motions” but not really owning my stuff in a few areas of my life. It’s not easy for me to tell you that I wasn’t being honest with myself about nutrition, how I was showing up in my workouts, and how I was connecting spiritually.
So I asked myself the tough questions:
What needs to change?
Where am I letting excuses speak louder than discipline?
What truth would hurt to admit, but would actually set me free?
Let me say this gently but clearly: Your breakthrough begins where your excuses end.
We don’t grow by ignoring the gaps, we grow by confronting them. It’s not easy. It’s not always comfortable. But it is worth it.
Let me encourage you to take a deep breath. Look in the mirror. Ask the hard questions. And then take the first bold step forward.
Family Walks are the Best
Nate’s Quotes:
“Hard choices, easy life. Easy choices, hard life.”
— Jerzy Gregorek
This quote doesn’t need a whole lot of explanation, but it does need our attention.
If your life feels hard right now, it might be time to stop asking why and start asking what choices led me here? What do you and I need to take responsibility for?
Because the truth is:
Skipping the workout is easy, but so is losing your strength and confidence.
Ignoring your spending plan is easy, but so is staying in debt and stress.
Going through the motions spiritually is easy, but so is drifting further from the peace only God can give.
The hard choice? Waking up early to train your body. The hard choice? Saying no to impulse spending. The hard choice? Sitting still in prayer when your mind wants distraction.
But when you make those hard choices daily, your life starts to feel lighter, freer, and more aligned.
So here’s our challenge this week: Choose the hard thing.
On purpose. Every time. Because that’s the only road to an “easy” life, the kind of life that is full of joy, strength, purpose, and peace.
Life Transformation Isn’t Complicated. It’s Just Hard.
Here’s the honest truth: most people already know what they need to do.
They know they need to move more and eat better.
They know they need to stop spending money they don’t have.
They know they need to reconnect with God and seek His guidance.
But they’re stuck because they’re looking for the easier version of the answer. They want a shortcut that doesn’t require discomfort.
Let me be straight with you. There isn’t one.
Transformation is simple. But it is not easy.
Face the truth.
Decide to change.
Take consistent action.
Don’t stop when it gets hard.
Life rarely changes overnight. It changes over time. You don’t need to overhaul your life today. You just need to take one firm, committed step in the right direction, and keep taking them until those steps, actions and behaviors become who you are.
Wrap Up: You’re Not Alone, And You Are Loved
If this weeks message felt tough: good! It was meant to. Not because I want to push you away, but because I care too much to let you settle.
I believe in you. I see what’s in you. And I know with everything in me that your best life is still ahead of you. But it will require honesty, courage, and relentless consistency for you to get there. And I can't do it for you. It's your choice.
And in all of that, I want you to know this: You are not alone. You have people who care deeply about you. You have a God who walks with you. And you have me in your corner, cheering you on with everything I’ve got.
So this week: Be bold. Be honest. And don’t forget to be gentle with yourself along the way. Growth is hard, but you are worth it.
Let’s keep building this life: stronger, wiser, and more grounded than ever before.
Let them see you do hard things so they know it's possible.
